U1 & CHAPTER 4 : Measuring the Success of Strategic Initiatives WEEK 5 (3rd January 2017 9.08a.m.)

Assalamualaikum & Goodmorning to all dear Blogger readers,

Happy new year which have past 2 days ago and it is a blast for me. Talking about this Chapter  4, my lecturer has already lecture about it since 29.12.16 almost 50% of the whole chapter. I have this feeling of writing it in this blog since last Saturday which is 31.12.16 but yeah, ain't nobody got time for that because I am busy helping my parents by sending out large wedding cakes for she 3 cakes to complete in one day. Simple to say that I and my dad are her delivery guys for her cakes. For the 1st January of 2017, Iam so thrilling excited to go for the night party at Berjaya Times Square that I could not do any else for the whole day except for sewing.

Below are the cakes that was sent out for orders :

The most favorite cake that my Mum like it so much as she says "I always want to design a vintage-like cake and here it is"

Well, off-shore the topic of Chapter 4, so let me begin with every firm of company around the world has their on KPI in each department or workforce,

What is KPI?
KPI is known as a key performance indicator for which its measurements are tied up to the business drivers in a form of metrics. This KPI is aided both by Business Professionals and also IT departments to fulfill it.

LARGE GAP FROM MY WRITING DUE TO CLASS, right now I am going to continue my post at6.03p.m.
 PART 1
The IT Metrics via Efficiency & Effectiveness

Before we go further in IT metrics, we should know
Benchmarking ?
A process continuously measuring system results, comparing those results to optimal system performance and identifying steps and procedures to improve system performance.

A.) Efficiency
Measures the performance of the IT system itself including throughput, speed, and availability.

There are a few IT Metrics that focused in Efficiency mainly :

1.) Throughput
The amount of information that can travel through a system at any point.

2.) Transaction speed
The amount of time a system takes to perform a transaction

3.) System Availability
The number of hours a system is available for the users.

4.) Information Accuracy
The extent to which a system generates the correct results when executing the same transaction numerous times

5.) Web Traffic
Includes a host of benchmarks such as the number of page views, the number of unique visitors, and the average time spent viewing a Web page.

6.) Response Time
The time it takes to respond to user interactions such as a mouse click

B.) Effectiveness
Measures the impact IT has on business processes and activities including customer satisfaction, conversion rates , and sell-through increases.

There are a few IT Metrics that focused in Effectiveness which focuses on an organization's goals, strategies and objectives which mainly are  :

1.) Usability
The ease of which people perform transactions and/or find information. A popular usability metric on the internet is degrees of freedom , which measures the number of clicks required to find desired information.

2.) Customer Satisfaction
Measured by such benchmarks as satisfaction surveys, percentage of existing customers retained, and increases in revenue dollars per customer.

3.) Conversion Rates
The number of customer an organization "touches" for the first time and persuades to purchase its products or services. This is a popular metric for evaluating the effectiveness of banner, pop-up , and pop-under ads on the internet.

4.) Financial
  • Return on investment ROI
The earning power of an organization's assets.

  • Cost- Benefit Analysis
The comparison of projected revenues and cots including development, maintenance, fixed, and variable

  • Break-even Analysis
The point which constant revenues equal ongoing costs.

The INTERRELATIONSHIPS between IT Metrics of Efficiency and Effectiveness

  • Security is an issue for any organization offering product or any services over the internet.
  • It is inefficient for an organization to implement internet security, since it slows down processing.
PART 1 ASSIGNMENT ,

So that is part 1 explanation, and below is what I can compute and understand upon the above explanations,

For the part 1 explanation, I'd choose the top 2 out of 10 shopping websites which best ranks in Malaysia for the YEAR 2015.

A.) Efficiency

1.) Throughput

The amount of information I retained from this particular shopping website is :

a.) Information of  FAQ's in website

b.) Information of the companies background

c.) Information on online purchasing service offered

d.) Information on general service offered

e.) Information on terms, agreement and privacy & policy of the website

f.) Information upon how the website works online towards the users

g.) Information on product details and general info

h.) Information on product cancellation, refund etc.

i.) Information on detailed product specifications

2.) Transaction speed

The transaction speed of the online website is fast depending on the internet's speed. Below are the procedures in time taken upon purchasing a product :

1.) Product selected and choose on 12..37 p.m.

2.) Product filled in detail order after log-in the user's account on 12.38 p.m.

3.) Product order payment via online transfer at 12.39 p.m.

4.) Log-in to Bank Account after selecting method of payment at 12.40 p.m.
In conclusion, the transaction speed for this website is fast as 1 minute for every transaction receives.

3.) System Availability

The system of this online shopping website is available throughout the day as to be referred above image's that was snipped during the Afternoon.

Below attachment are the proof of system availability during Midnight sessions :

TO BE UPDATED ON THE LATER NIGHT !!!

4.) Information Accuracy

The information accuracy upon this website of that particular product as below :

This product information is viewed on 4th January 2017,  12.42 p.m.

This product information is viewed on 6th January 2017,  5.27 p.m.

This product information is viewed on 12th January 2017,  5.20 p.m.

TO BE UPDATED ON 5 ALTERNATE DAYS !!!

5.) Web Traffic

At www.11street.my  website does not show the web traffic as I need for the above subtitle but an alternative web traffic that I obtained during my research is through their Facebook page upon New Page Likes by a form of l graph, Total Page Likes and Total Page Followers for the current time as below :

The graph indicates the current Page Likes by weekly updates

6.) Response Time

During my experience upon updating this blog on research upon this website, I found that the response time of the website is significant on how fast is your internet speed when or whenever you are performing any online transactions or even just browsing by.

B.) Effectiveness

1.) Usability

The usability that I would have to study is how efficient that I can obtain the information of a product, service etc. from the website.

Input
I want to know upon the warranty of the product I searched at the website

Output
After clicking on the desired product, I'd just scroll my mouse below to gain the information efficiently WITHOUT a hassle to look around the website's corner. I would say that it is efficient as simple as 3 steps to get my desired information upon the product as below :

FIRST : Search the desired product

SECOND : Click on the desired product to search for the desired information

THIRD : Just scroll downwards to find your desired basic information upon the product searched

2.) Customer Satisfaction

For this section, in my research, I would say that this website customer's service is excellent for they actually reply towards their customer's complaints through their Facebook page As Soon As Possible. Due to that scenario, instant action an apology is taken upon complaints received and is expressed directly towards their customers. Evidence as follows :

The print screen shows that the comment upon customer's complaint is replied sufficiently upon apologies with a hope of improvements.

3.) Conversion Rates

The conversion rates of this website is not too much nor little as for when you enter the website, there is only pop-ups of their own website as is like the website does not promotes other pop-ups from another website onto their pages. Evidence as follows :

The print screen above shows negative appearances for any pop-ups or even advertisements from different websites in their page for except of their own promotions.

4.) Financial

There are no financial updates upon this website as it is a P&C information as to be explained by the customer service representative.

PART 2
The IT Metrics via Websites

Till the end of part 1, here we go into part 2 of Chapter 4

In part 2 here, I am going to explain in the form of textbook explanation upon metrics via website which consists of 8 metrics.

1.)    Abandoned Registrations

The number of visitors whom start the process of completing a registration page and then abandon the activity

Example : A common thing that I did when I was at my young age is when I first try online shopping, I proceed to the item that I desired and filled every details of the registration and paying part till when it comes to credit card or online banking requirement which I’d left out immediately.

2.)    Abandoned Shopping Carts

The number of visitors whom create a shopping cart and start shopping and then abandon the activity before paying for the merchandise.

Example : I usually did this at an online shopping site to see the amounted cost for more than one items that I choose from.

3.)    Click-Through

The count of the number of people who visit a site, click on an ad, and are taken to the site of the advertiser.

4.)    Conversion Rate

Percentage of potential customers who visit a site and actually buy something.

5.)    Cost-per-thousand CPM

The sales dollars generated per dollar of advertising. This is commonly used to make the case for spending money to appear on search engine.

6.)    Page Exposures

Average number of page exposers to an individual visitor

7.)    Total Hits

Number of visits to a Web site, many of which may be by the same visitor.

8.)    Unique Visitors

Number of unique visitors to a site in a given time. This is commonly used by Nielsen/Net ratings to rank the most popular Web sites.

Upon the general Website Metrics, there also 4 other strategic initiatives via metrics. One of the 4 strategic initiatives via metrics are :

SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT METRICS (SCM)

1.)    Back Order

An unfilled customer order. A back order is demand against an item whose current stock level is insufficient to satisfy demand.

2.)    Customer Order Promised Cycle Time

The anticipated or agreed upon cycle time of a purchase order. It is a gap between the purchase order creation date and the requested delivery date.

3.)    Customer Order Actual Time

The average time it takes to actually fill a customer’s purchase order. This measure can be viewed on an order or an order line level.

4.)    Inventory Replenishment Cycle Time

Measure of the manufacturing cycle time plus the time included to deploy the product to the appropriate distribution center.

5.)    Inventory Turns

The number of times that a company’s inventory cycles or turns over per year. It is one of the most commonly used supply chain metrics.

CUSTOMER RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT METRICS (CRM)

1.)    Sales Metrics

2.)    Service Metrics

3.)    Marketing Metrics

BUSINESS PROCESS REEINGINEERING METRICS (BPR)

ENTERPRISE RESOURCE PLANNING METRICS (ERP)

PART 2 ASSIGNMENT ,

So that is part 2 explanation, and below is what I can compute and understand upon the above explanations. My lecturer only assigned me to study the four out of eight IT Metrics Website as below :

!! Please Take Note that this part of the assignment will be updated from time to time.

1.)    Abandoned Registrations

2.)    Abandoned Shopping Carts

3.)    Click-Through

Example of a Click-Through Analysis

4.)    Total Hits

One of the best and frequent example I found that the total hits in my own student portal website where it shows the total hit number since the year 2009 till present.
